Dear People of God at Christ Church,
We wish to share the results of this morning’s vote. Thank you for participating.
The resolution to adopt the new Constitution passed with 97.4% vote in favor.
The resolution to transfer affiliation to Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) passed with a 96.1% vote in favor.
We are so excited about all that is to come for Christ Church as we continue to lift lives, elevate Christ, and be a church for those who are not yet here.
In Christ,
Pastor Andrew and the Leadership Board of Christ Church
Your experience of Christ Church and what you’ve come to love will remain the same!
Here you go!
We anticipate that more people will have input as we remove restrictions in the model constitution in regards to what legally defines a “member.”
There are no major theological differences in the areas of salvation, christology, sacraments, etc.
The ELCA is letting us peacefully part ways. Transferring to another Lutheran-specific denomination means there will be no financial ramifications.
Nope. We have never emphasized our denominational affiliation, nor will we, as we are more concerned with emphasizing our unity in the Christian faith.
The leadership wanted to remain committed to its Lutheran roots (think in terms of emphasizing the Bible, grace, faith, and Jesus). Also, our current constitution incentivizes us to transfer to another Lutheran body.
We remain absolutely committed to the deep relationships we have cultivated with our ELCA partner congregations of Hephatha Lutheran Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church for the incredible work they do. They, in turn, have affirmed our relationship and see no barrier for our continued work together.
Our pastors will transfer credentials to LCMC. Our four current seminarians are all enrolled in an LCMC-approved seminary (not an ELCA-approved seminary) and will undergo no change. All full-time staff will maintain benefits thru Portico Services ELCA until a new provider is selected and transitioned to.
Lots. Click to check them out.
